St George’s Hospital – Health Centre
The CCG (Clinical Commissioning Group) have to submit their final proposals to NHS England for health facilities on the St George’s Hospital site. We are still not clear as to what these will be and are currently surveying our members to ascertain what services they would like to have. Once finalised, we will ensure the survey outcome is reported to where it matters.
The Borough (particularly the southern end) does not have easy access to the basic (high volume) services that it should have:
- The Harold Wood facility (ex polyclinic) is not functioning anywhere near as well as it did in the first coule of years
- The Orchard Village centre (Mardyle Estate) is closing down and patients are being referred to Harold Wood
- South Hornchurch Clinic is underused, but has plenty of signage advertising services the clinic doesn’t provide
- The fabric of the Abbs Cross Lane facility is in dire need of upgrading; on occasion in the winter it has to close because the heating isn’t working
There is obviously no strategic vision for health services in Havering – if there is then it’s the best kept secret ever!
